Just the other week, I had an individual contact me who was facing a serious legal issue. This person had been faced with a problem and acted promptly, making what he thought to be the best decision in the matter. In common-sense thinking, it would seem that the decision he made was in fact the best. Unfortunately, the choice he made without consulting an attorney was a terrible mistake.
In fact, when considering legal matters, he made exactly the wrong decision. His choice has caused this person to now be in a much more precarious position legally.
As an attorney, I hate seeing this happen to clients that we could have helped with a simple conversation. Had this individual consulted with an attorney prior to making the decision, he would have understood the flaw in his thinking and could have made a much more informed choice. Now, the damage is done, and his legal case is greatly weakened.
When you are facing a legal matter, no matter how trivial it seems, the attorneys at Skeeters, Bennett, Wilson & Pike urge you not to handle it without consultation. Save the heartache and the hassle. Speak to an attorney just in case what you think is right is actually completely wrong.
